Renaii was inspired to write The Wrong Side of the Flame, which Kirkus Reviews praised for its “literary pyrotechnics,” capturing the intensity and vibrancy of her unique subject matter. She chose to explore the lives of belly dancers, fire spitters, and dominatrixes, characters drawn from her experience as a professional belly dancer and from the vibrant culture of Renaissance Faires. Through these characters and their unconventional relationships, Renaii explores themes of stepping beyond comfort zones—a challenging leap for many. Alongside her work as an author and playwright, she teaches at a performing arts school, where she passionately instills the transformative power of the arts in her students.
